Trivia
- In the Pokémon Blood-red and Blue beta, Kadabra was originally known as "Pocus".
- Pocket Monsters Encyclopedia says that Kadabra's Pokédex entry from Pokémon Red and Green is a reference to an in-universe novel "Transformation" that won the 2nd Pokémon Literary Award.
- Kadabra has not been printed every bit a TCG card since the English Skyridge expansion in 2003. This may be the result of Nintendo and Pokémon Card Laboratories' want to avert further litigation from Uri Geller regarding his merits that Kadabra is a parody of him. However, on November 28, 2020, Geller released an apology on Twitter, announcing that he would allow Nintendo to print cards featuring Kadabra again.
- Due to the now-lifted limitation, Kadabra is too the only Stage 1 Pokémon that can be skipped by its Bones evolution, introduced with a item Abra card able to evolve itself directly into Alakazam.
- For possibly the aforementioned reason, Kadabra has not made any anime appearances since Fear Factor Phony aired in the The states in 2006, except a small cameo in the "Earth of Pokémon" opening of Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice.
- Kadabra finally made media reappearance in the Pokémon Evolutions episode The Show, its first blithe appearance in over xvi years, excluding its cameo in the aforementioned picture show.
- Kadabra also did non announced in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, whereas Abra and Alakazam did.
- From Generation IV onward, the Everstone fails to prevent Kadabra from evolving past trade.
- In Pokémon Crystal, a issues causes the capture formula for the Heavy Ball to incorrectly retrieve this Pokémon'southward weight, giving it a +40 catch charge per unit modifier. This also affects Tauros and Sunflora.
Origin
Kadabra appears to be based on magicians and spoon benders. It also shares similarities with goats and foxes, two animals mythologically tied to magic. The symbols on Kadabra'due south forehead and abdomen appear to be references to Zener cards, a small deck of symbols used in experiments to test for extrasensory perception and clairvoyance in the early 1930s. The "Transformation" novel most Kadabra may be based on Franz Kafka'southward The Metamorphosis.
Proper name origin
Kadabra may be derived from alchemy, an incantation used in stage magic.
Yungerer may be named later Uri Geller, an illusionist famed for his spoon-bending technique. As a result, Geller sued Nintendo for using his likeness in a character.
